It used to be that there were the Haves and the Have-Nots. Now it's the Haves and the Givens.
Career Day in Kindergarten

This week happens to be Career Week in my daughter's kindergarten class. As most of you know, my older two girls are homeschooled again, but my youngest wanted to finish out the school year before she joins us full time again next year. So, when her teacher sent home a letter last week asking if any parents wanted to volunteer to come in and talk to the class we accepted.
Well, actually I accepted. I read the note to Cameron and said, "Would you want to do that?" She looked at me like I had three heads. I decided I should clarify. "Would you want Daddy to go in and talk about firefighting?"
"Oh, yes! I really want Daddy to. Please, please, please, please, please can Daddy come in and talk to my class?" My other daughters stood laughing at me.
"Ha! Ha! She was wondering what on earth you would talk about if you went in Mommy!" Nice. Very amusing. I wonder sometimes why I keep them at home with me, but then I remember that they completely understand and are totally willing to dish out sarcasm as well as I am and I love them for it.
First thing this morning, Cameron got the great joy of bringing our whole family into school so Tradd could talk to her kindergarten class about firefighting and I could take pictures.
The visit was a success and Cameron could not have been any more proud of her Daddy, the firefighter, in his uniform with her on his knee.
